Inktwister Tattoo is a tattoo parlor based in Fort Worth, Texas. Trevor, the owner, approached me to develop the brand and logo for his shop. Needing a modern approach in a traditional yet effective style, we landed on a strong mark that is easily identifiable while maintaining the quality work he expects from his business.
Diving into a blank sheet of paper is always my preferred method for creating initial concepts. Discussing the direction of Inktwister, I was prepared to sketch out a few ideas with Trevor's goals in mind. we wanted the logo to be slightly aggressive in style, yet with a traditional feel, after many sketches and revision, we agreed this would be the best approach to the design.
Scanning the sketch into Adobe Illustrator, I began the process of creating a vector with the pen tool. This allow me to be accurate in the creation of the logo without having to rely on an automatic process and produces a clean asset for professional reproduction.
Producing a logo is the first step of establishing a brand that will represent Inktwister Tattoo accurately. With the high quality work Trevor is responsible for, I wanted to introduce some imagery to show the dynamic of the logo while keeping the tone of the brand consistent and reliable when reproducing collateral in web & print formats.
Overall, designing Inktwister's logo was successful in creating the foundation of style and tone and the results have created new opportunities as the front-facing image for his business.
